Website Redesign: Case Study

Bostick Marketing Productions LLC

  • Overview

Bostick Marketing Productions LLC specializes in photography, videography and post production for personal and business use. Targeting two primary audiences they have split their brand focus into Bostick Productions and Bostick Photos & Film. The project sought to streamline their brand and online presence through consistent branding while distinguishing between the two business avenues. Primary emphasis was put on developing the Bostick Productions business venture. The outcome was meant to improve key engagement metrics like site visits, bounce rate, form submissions and increase in client booking.

    Length of project: 6-8 weeks

    Role: Solo UX/UI Designer

  • Research

After consulting with Bostick Pro, I gathered contextual information from local competitors and identified a baseline for what users expect from a photography, videography, and/or post-production service.

    Competitive Analysis

A competitive analysis revealed the strengths, weaknesses, similarities, and differences between local competitors in their respective field of photography, videography and post-production.

Findings:

  • All businesses showcase their work with images and video.

  • Pricing and booking options are not always offered for services.

  • Some businesses use blogs as a means to inform and equip their clients and/or show off past work.

  • Each business seeks a way to speak to their brand and target audience:

Colab Production House offers a members area that can make their clients feel they are getting something exclusive, NN Photography has videos showcasing their clients ‘Experience’ with them, and Spiral Artists uses their blog to promote their knowledge and skill and bui ld trust with their clients.

User Needs and Business Goals

  • User Personas

User Personas made using direct observation and client demographic-surveys provided by Bostick Marketing Productions LLC.

  • "How Might We"

How Might We questions were central to form actionable problem statements. This solution-oriented brainstorming would help frame design considerations.

  • Affinity Mapping

An affinity map was used to organize ideas and insights drawn from problem statements. This helped to categorize and prioritize Bostick Pro’s services.

  • Design

The design began with planning the information architecture of the new site. Making information accessible and intuitive was priority.

Bostick Productions website was the clients priority with a desire to move away from Bostick Photos and Film. A single-page site was created for Bostick Photos and Film and can be accessed through their Instagram page and in the footer of Botick Productions website.

  • Measuring Success

Bostick Productions success metrics will be based on the first 30 days after launch date. These will include site visits, scroll depth*, and form submissions.

    * Scroll depth replaced bounce rate due to single-page design.
